I purchased this book for my boy who is about to turn 3. He's showing all the signs of being ready to start learning to write letters and numbers. The first section is Begining Writing Skills. This section has 22 pages of practice work for conencting dotted lines before you even begin making the letter A. As they're learning letters each letter has its own page, but both capital and lower case are on the same page. It had directional images to show how each letter is made, which is helpful. The alphabet is gone through twice in this section, so there is a set of A-Z then it startes over with a second set containing different pictures to go with the letters. After you complete the second set there is a left to right practice page, a connect-the-dots for upper and one for lower-case letters. Then a practice page with lines on both sides. The second section is Colors and Shapes. It starts with dotted shapes for your child to follow. Then They have to pick out a particular shape from a box full of shapes and color just that particular shape. Again these are gone through twice. Next is a page for each of 8 colors (brown, orange, yellow, red, black, purple, green and blue). Then colors and shapes are combined with a familiar activity. Your child is to pick out a particular shape from a group of shapes again only this time they are to color it a particular color. The next section is called Reading Readiness. This section involves matching like figures, picking out figures that are different, picking out figures that go together in a group (hand and glove, needle and thread), then picking out images with a particular association (which would you eat, which go in the water, etc). Following these are rhyming games where the child works from left to right to match images whose names rhyme, then connecting pairs from left to right, and coloring according to letter (color the A spaces red, B spaces blue, and C spaces white etc). There are a couple of maze activities, pattern activities, activities for identifying details in a picture, and more alphabet connect-the-dots. The next section is called Picture Dictionary. On each page is a letter and 5 images with a description of what the image does. There is one space left open for yoru child to draw a picture of an item that starts with that letter and add a description. Each letter only has one page in this section. The next section is called Sounds and Letters. This section has your child identifying images that start with a particular letter, however, I and X are missing from this section. Each letter has one page. The next secion is called Math Readiness. This section starts with more pattern activities, then has comparison activities (color the small image blue, the large image red, circle the group that has less, circle the group that has more). There is a 1-10 connect-the-dots, activities that instruct to circle the correct number for a corresponding group of images (3 cupcakes are shown and the num
