Modern contraception among adolescents in Moramanga in 2015

This is a descriptive, retrospective and cross-sectional study conducted among young people aged 15 to 19 years in the Moramanga Health District. According to the results of the study, about 1 in 10 of the young people surveyed had used a modern contraceptive method, and more than half of these young people knew the definition of family planning, while less than 10% had a high level of knowledge about contraceptive methods and their advantages. The use of contraception among young people in Moramanga is associated with age, level of education, distance from the health center, rural or urban residence and marital status. In addition, poor knowledge of family planning is observed, justifying the following proposed solutions: ensure the sustainability of the quality of services in Adolescent Reproductive Health, strengthen the promotion of strategic IEC/CC and promote the creation of a multisectoral committee for IEC/CC of young people through a community consensus project of the SRA model site and reorganize the "youth-friendly" health services.
