Models of Church Planting

There are many ways to do church planting. This book merely gives a few models. Just as "preaching is proclamation through personality", So God uses the personalities, gifts, and passions of different people in different ways. God seems to love variety. We should rejoice and learn from this characteristic of our Creator. This is not a "How To" book. This is a "Story" book. Each author tells a story based on personal experience. From these stories I hope you will glean the passion and philosophy of each church planter. As they tell their stories, lessons have been learned. Hopefully, they will help you, the reader. The experience of each writer is varied. Many have been in ministry for only a few years. Some are long time veterans. Some of the church plants have been successful as we normally define success, others, as the saying goes, "Not so much," yet, is that true? A couple of chapters were written during the third or fourth month of the plant. One of these planters asked why I wanted someone with no experience to share a story. From my perspective, that is the point. Most church planters have never planted a church before. They have no experience. Therefore, to get a feel for "month three" could be helpful. Furthermore, I think there is a different perspective for someone to write about "month three" while experiencing it, than to reflect and write about "month three" five years later. The thoughts recorded here were "right off the press." A final angle of this book is its worldwide flavor. The international section gives just a glimpse of what God is doing worldwide. In fact that is where we will start. May we partner with Him, in some small way, as He creates models of church planting.
