The fourteenth century is very important for the world of clothing: it is the century in which 'fashion' was born, that is the need for constant change that will mark the following centuries. A clear distinction is made between male and female clothing, and many types of dresses become wholly or partly adherent. And therefore their sartorial structure is renewed, becoming much more complex. Through the analysis of the painting and literature of that time, mainly the short stories, the book follows this evolution, reconstructing the development of fashion throughout the century.
