Duck & Goose hunting primer!

I found this book used and bought it to see what the going advice was in the early 1970s, when it was written. The title sums it up nicely, and gives a hint of the poetry he sees in the blind.I was pleasantly surprised to see most of this book is still current. Norman has an appreciation for hunting and a respect for the birds we hunt; this comes through as you read his hard-earned advice. You can tell this is a man who has spent time in the cold water before sunup. You duck hunters will know what I mean. Norman spent quite a bit of time in Montana then, and his stories of how the Madison looks on a quiet morning as the birds are just starting to come off the water are familiar to me. Many of his comments are dated, of course, as steel shot was not yet mandated as it is now. Still, this gave the book a timeless and nostalgic feel and that is why I take time to re-read it throughout the waterfowl season. It is comforting, like an old familiar Remington. You will enjoy this book and find it a frequent read in your hunting library.
