She wasn't the kind of girl gorgeous men flirted with. She was plain Jane Miller--great at her job, organized, efficient, sensible. Except that every time she met Jay's deep blue eyes, she knew he wanted her. And she wanted him--the guy was seriously sexy Perhaps it was time to let go for a change, and have the time of her life Their intensely private and secret night together is mind-blowing, but now Jay has raised the stakes--he wants her as his mistress
The book cover did not do justice to the great story Julie Cohen weaved. Nor was the book aptly named. "Jay" never requested Jane become his mistress, nor does he refer to her as such. Others may have perceived her as a mistress, but I don't recall, (nor could I find upon review of the text), her referred to as such. Their night together was hardly a private matter; the entire staff Jane worked with gossiped about their liaison- which was to explain their on-going relationship. Hardly a "Mistress in Private". This is a tale of a complex, successful, career-driven woman, Jane, who doubts her abilities to connect on a personal level with others. She feels challenged and conflicted in friendships and relationships, especially with men. "Jay" is a strong, sensitive, handsome, intelligent character who attempts to show Jane her value as a woman and a friend. The book challenges the reader to look beyond the surface characteristics of people, and question the image we have of ourselves- is it true or fair? It has depth that the synopsis fails to infer. I enjoyed the book! I recommend it - especially to those who appreciate sweet, sensitive men who use their personal strengths to contribute to a woman's self-actualization.
