In the myths of nearly every society there are tales of a future conflict, wherein the fate of the world will be determined. In Norse mythology, it is Ragnar k--the great battle between the gods and their adversaries, followed by the destruction of the world. In Christian societies, it is the battle of Armageddon and the Apocalypse, the victory of good over evil.
