The etymology of the word "missive" according to Merriam-Webster's Dictionary comes from Middle French: lettre missive, literally translated as "a letter intended to be sent." Missives is a book composed of small, concise poetic writing and images each "intended to be sent." They are notes from the author to herself and to others who wish to listen, see, and discover meaning in between.
