James Iverson never intended to move from his small hometown of Spicer, Minnesota to the even smaller town of Geraldine, Montana. But when tragedy strikes, he feels it may be the chance for a new beginning; where he knows nobody, and nobody knows him. Deeply marred, his relationships with his remaining friends and his girlfriend fall apart. As James seeks to settle into the small town as the lone high school social studies teacher, he does all he can to rebuild his life, attempting to leave all of his baggage from Minnesota in the past. When a local child goes missing, the whole town is turned upside down. Things like that don't happen here, and every parents' illusion of small-town peace is shattered. James soon finds himself wondering if he was a witness--and furthermore, if he knows the person (or people) responsible. He is forced to reckon with the possibility that the friendships he was attempting to build and the relationships he was trying to create could very well be dangerous, while setting out on a personal mission to locate, or rescue, the child. Additionally, James is distressed by the mysterious behavior of his new neighbor--who, despite James's best efforts, remains distant, guarded, and unfriendly. James thinks he may be hiding something. What James doesn't know is that they are connected by something shocking, and they have a much deeper connection than either of them realize. In a story of mystery, adventure, love, danger, tragedy, and forgiveness, James will find that trusting in God and others are important things to do when it comes to cracking a case, and reaching the most guarded among us - especially when someone goes Missing In Montana.
