James Iverson never intended to move from his small hometown of Spicer, Minnesota to the even smaller town of Geraldine, Montana. But when tragedy strikes, he feels it may be the chance for a new beginning; where he knows nobody, and nobody knows him. Deeply marred, his relationships with his remaining friends and his girlfriend fall apart. He is forced to reckon with the possibility that the friendships he was attempting to build and the relationships he was trying to create could very well be dangerous, while setting out on a personal mission to locate, or rescue, the child. Additionally, James is distressed by the mysterious behavior of his new neighbor--who, despite James's best efforts, remains distant, guarded, and unfriendly. James thinks he may be hiding something. What James doesn't know is that they are connected by something shocking, and they have a much deeper connection than either of them realize.
