I've read several books recently on Prison Ministry and this is definately one of the best. Rather than telling a lot of stories as most books do, Dr. Covert provides a theology of ministry to the imprisoned. If you are in prison ministry, don't miss this one. By the way, the previous reviewer says this is written from a Catholic point of view. That is simply not correct. Dr. Covert is an ordained United Church of Christ pastor and mentions nothing about the Catholic church or Catholic theology in the book. A Solid Guide Book for Anyone In Prison Chaplaincy

As the title of my review suggests, this is a great book for anyone interested in or currently involved in ministry to prisoners. I am an evangelical chaplain to youth offenders. Covert (the author) comes from a Catholic point of view. However, my copy of "Ministry to the Incarcerated" is full of highlighted text--material I found to be very useful, informative, and inlightening. If you are an experienced minister in penal systems or a new comer, you will find this book to be a great read.
