Create exquisite fairies, gorgeous flowers, and chocolates that look good enough to eat with this guide to miniature quilling. Step-by-step photographs and helpful instructions demonstrate how quilled... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I was slightly misled by this book's title, assuming it was about quilling miniature 3-D items such as furniture for display in a shadow box scene. Actually, the author is advocating the use of 2 mm-wide paper strips or thinner in order to create more delicate designs (most work in other quilling books is done in paper 3 mm in width). The most original projects in this book involve quilled chocolate candies, which really do look good enough to eat. I would not undertake this project myself because I'm a chocolateholic who believes that if something looks like a chocolate, it should taste like a chocolate (chocolate-colored soap is especially offensive). However, there are lots of conventional projects ranging from greeting cards to fairy ornaments. The author works as a freelance craft tutor in England, and I also have her book on Quilled Greetings Cards (Greetings Cards series). She provides an excellent materials and equipment list (including tissue paper, which I'd never thought of quilling), and the chapter on `Basic Techniques' is very clear and well-photographed. Each project described in this book includes a list of the quilling strips and other materials that will be needed to complete it. "Minature Quilling" is a good, basic book for those who are just taking up this hobby, and more advanced quillers might enjoy tackling the chocolates or the fairies.
Fantastic Book!

I love this book! I have many quilling books and I found this one to be very refreshing. I agree with some of the other comments, it is short, but I still would reccomend it to any quiller. It takes a delicate touch to work with the tiny quilling strips, but the result is well worth it. She gives great ideas for how to use the small quilling to embellish cards and gifts, and has inspired me to buy narrow quilling paper and now use it regularly for my cards and crafts.
Delicate detail is amazing

The eye for detail is most imaginative. Making smaller designs gives you a quick instant completion to a project. I love it. Peggy Ft Lauderdale

I think this is a fantastic book. It is very short (my only complaint), but all of the projects are wonderful; the patterns for the chocolates are especially great and so very creative. The projects are not that difficult and would be good for a beginner but I think even the expert would enjoy themselves.
