Much progress has been made in science and technology; but the conventional understanding of human nature is still driven by prejudices and false notions. This is a worrying source of conflict, discord and a setback in almost every endeavor in which humanity could be thriving. This book is aimed at identifying religion as a factor that causes social and personal aggression resulting from poor understanding of human nature, the ecology of mind and society. Our aim is to promote a better understanding by merging the understanding of human nature in religion with the understanding in psychology, neuroscience and philosophy against a backdrop of major man made catastrophes in history. With this new understanding we have come to realize that man made catastrophes of the Dark Ages, Nazi Holocaust, the Gulag Archipelago and the Khmer Rouge could have been prevented ...
