An important lesson, sweetly told

The Milly Molly series supports diversity and moral values in this exiciting story of adventure and renewal. Two little girls of different ethnic backgrounds care for and feed Oink, the littlest pig in the litter. Without Milly and Molly, Oink might not have survived the battle for food with his 9 siblings. As he grows a little, they teach him how to get up to the food trough on his own and this lesson saves him again after he is abducted by a stranger. He makes it home safely due to paitience, guile and ingenuity. Meanwhile the little girls have been waiting patiently for him, never giving up hope. He is happy at home again, and learns the lesson "Be wary of strangers." New Zealand author Gill Pittar incorporates several important messages without scaring children or preaching to them. The illustrations by Cris Morrell are just delightful and contribute greatly to the story. Milly, Molly and Oink is a fabulous read for anyone of any age.
