Mikkel is the youngest child of the King and Queen, born with indeterminate characteristics but arbitrarily raised as a male. He was treated as an outcast his entire life and into adulthood. This act entangles him with the curse of the bear who's really a man. The two must spend five winters as a married couple to lift the curse or risk breaking it.
