Can third-grade kids write cool superhero stories? Well, that was the question on our mind. Six third-grade kids were asked to write a story that is original, creative and explores a journey of a superhero. Their six heroes are as different as the kids themselves, but each one of them shows how their heroes overcame obstacles, became better and, in many cases, made life better for others as well. Their stories show that real superpowers don't necessarily come from the powerful weapons, wands, or tools the hero has but ultimately from a hero's inner strengths like imagination, kindness, courage, and determination. Our goal in publishing this book is to not only share these stories but also to inspire other kids to write their own superhero stories as well. Go on, write a story and unleash your creativity. May the power of the superheroes be with you!The first story "How Jimmy saved books" shows how a super kid from the year 3018 goes back in time to save books from going extinct but he is trapped, does he succeed? The second story "Twin Potatoes" is about a super kid who faces an uphill task trying to fight junk food, you need to read the story to figure out who wins and how they win. The third story "The adventure of Captain Beard-O" is a story of how a courageous superhero is called upon to save his countrymen from fierce enemies led by a wicked King. The mission is dangerous, will the superhero succeed or does the wicked King prevail? The fourth story 'Kind heart forms friendships" shows how a superkid with a magic wand does not have the wand when she needs it most but she instead uses another super power within her to stop a bully, what power is that? Read it to find out more. The fifth story "Mr. X vs Anonymous" is about a superhero who fights his mighty nemesis in an interplanetary fight but is overcome by the powers of his mighty villain, will the superhero prevail? Read this story to find out how the interplanetary fight plays out.The sixth story "Gorden's trip to the woods" is about an inquisitive superkid who gets in trouble for wandering out at night and gets killed, does he really get killed or is there a twist to it, what is the lesson from this story? Read it to know what the lesson is. We all love watching superhero movies because they entertain and teach key life lessons through the journeys of their superheroes. Through these stories, kids have tried to show the arc of a superhero's journey, that is, how to create a character that will face life's obstacles, both big and small, and become better by overcoming them. We hope you enjoy reading these stories as much as the kids have enjoyed writing them. Behind each of the stories here, there is a story of a third-grader overcoming their weaknesses and becoming a better writer, communicator, and collaborator. Their journey, in some ways, is similar to the journey of their superheroes, continuously striving to overcome weaknesses and becoming better.
