That was my first reaction as the storyline of the book began to emerge. This book offers a great mix of medicine, mafia, and mushy romance as the young doctor finds him self at the ultimate crossroads in his life. What would I do if I was Dr. Davids? Could I out-wit, out-run, or out-muscle Sal? Would I give up my profession for easy (albeit sleazy) street? Could I stand to lose the love of my life in order to save the love of my life? Read the book and see how you would answer these questions. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
Mobbed? First Time Out Hits the Target Nicely

Midnight Rounds by Dr. Richard Greene is a lively and exciting story of anxious dilemma, surprising plot twists and finely drawn characters - all of whom have very human traits that will catch you right up and draw you in. Like the author, the book's narrative center, Charlie Davids, is a doctor, and in him Dr. Greene gives us a highly likeable character that we could swear was just like somebody we knew back in the day: a down to earth guy, complete with warm and consistent habits and beliefs and who, like all of us, rises above our Mitty-esque selves to unimagined strengths when circumstances require efforts that were unthinkable just a short time before. We see Charlie pulled from his jokes and patients and friends in the Berkshire Hills of Western Massachusetts onto the edges of a mob war that eventually makes him a casualty. Because of the author's background as a practicing physician, he builds the reader a rich background of medical practice and protocol - only to blur all the lines by using the dilemma that Charlie is forced into as an ongoing contrasting friction. This moves the book to a climax that is surprising only until you see how cleverly you've been brought along to watch how far out of his element our boy has been pulled. The book is a quick read made all the quicker because I literally couldn't put it down. As the cover says this initial offering is "A Dr. Charlie Davids Novel," I can only hope that we have the chance to read more about our modest diagnostician.
