Hey, don't look for this series of books to be the "help all to end all" reference book. they are not designed in that way.The layout is very helpful and FAST! You can get novice and advanced answers to everything, on just a page or two!Best of all, FULL COLOR demo screens and great exercises to practice.Doubters...know what you want before you look here. This is as good as it gets for the new ACCESS user. Just know that this is not a "Tell-All" in depth reference.
Works with NT if you install in win 3.1 on dual boot sys

I agree with Tom, but I also liked the CD to get me jump started (spoon fed) with little effort. I looked at a lot of books, some too involved..ug whats my name? and some with lots of simplicity..yawn, but this book was just right. I'd like to see part 2 - macros, modules and VBA. I might give this book a five if the glitches were worked out. I got the CD to work on NT by installing it on windows 3.1 first and then after booting up with NT I can double click on GSAC97.EXE on the CD rom and it works. My D drive is invisible to win 3.1 but the C drive is available to both operating systems.
A great hands-on book. Gets straight to the point.

If you don't have a lot of time to waist wading through Access books that are heavy on verbage and short on example (ie QUE's "Special Edition Using Access97" or MSPress's "Running Access") then this book is for you. The pages are large with great color screen shots and a step by step approach that is easy to follow. The book starts from the assumption that you know nothing about Access and gradually builds in complexity. I have been working with the book for several nights now and I am very satisfied with my progress and retention. The CD has all of the source files needed for the excercises in the book. I don't care for multimedia instruction so I don't care what else is on the CD. This book is functional works for me. The price is right also.
