Mickey on the Move is about a Sixth grader who has a disability and has to wear cochlear impants it order to hear and process sounds. He is in a new school so it’s difficult trying to get use to everything about the new school. I love this book and loved reading about Mickey and his journey. His friends are so nice in helping him as well as his family. I will admit this is not something I know anything about and I am glad for this book, not only to help other children in knowing how to be around someone wearing cochlear impants, but it gave me an understanding of someone with this disability. And this young boy does amazing and will be able to follow his dreams with his determination. It is interesting that the author wrote this story based on her own son’s life. I love the support this special character in this book gets from his family and friends and I can imagine the love and support the real Mickey gets from the many family and friends in his real life. This is an awesome little book. Such a touching story of an amazing young boy. If you or someone you know is wearing cochlear impants, I would encourage you to pick up a copy of this book. I will guarantee you will be glad for huge amount of information you will learn in this one little book! The main thing and the biggest thing here is that no disability defines who you are. Mikey didn’t let his issues stop him from being himself. This is a really special book for everyone to read
