The tradition is for the author to summarize his story to lure the potential reader. In my case, this is simply impossible. Because this short story cannot be summarized: we can only read it in its entirety... or not at all It could basically be classified as horror or fantasy, with a touch of Lovecraft and his "Great Old Ones" evil deities who underlie the world, already ancient when God was still young. But for me that would be far from enough. Because what characterizes it above all is its satirical and subversive scope, the message that man is nothing but vanity and self-importance. Thinking he controls his world... when in reality he controls nothing. Wells concluded at the end of his most famous novel that men neither live nor die in vain. As for me... I claim the complete opposite
