Mi Sangre, Part I is a historical novel of a people and a family, struggling through life during late nineteenth and early twentieth century Mexico and South Texas. Most of what you will read are actual events told with a certain degree of liberty in the details. In essence, it is historical fiction. Nevertheless, most of the stories are true events passed down in the oral tradition of Native Americans. Historical events helped to place characters in their proper setting regarding actual history and historical events and characters. This novel does not change the actual historical names, and characters in the novel. Another peculiarity you will notice about this novel is that I wrote it bilingually. This means that I wrote the story in English, but most of the dialogue is in Spanish. I do not provide the translation to the dialogue in the text as I feel it would take away from the flow. Besides, most of you are able to translate any text using Google. I hope you will take on the challenge.
