A fun book for kids and adults and a good illustration of watering down through compromise.

Mexicali Soup wasn't a book I would have picked up except we somehow ended up with a copy at our house and it was fun to read to the kids as well as fun for them to listen. Poor Mama does her best to feed her family the food they love. But each one has a reason to omit "just one ingredient" and so the afternoon goes, with each person exclaiming how excited they are to have "Mama's Delicious Soup" at suppertime. Your children will likely figure out before the book is done how easy it is to ruin a good thing. I was going to buy another copy but 83.00 for the book????? Surely, someone is out of their mind. Wait for a sane price and then purchase. Otherwise, see if your library has a copy.
