This support text provides a more thorough presentation of mathematical aspects of meteorology including equations. Except for Chapters 1 and 19, the chapters directly coincide with METEOROLOGY TODAY, FIFTH EDITION by Ahrens. The first chapter provides the mathematical and physical background for subsequent chapters. A background in high school algebra, geometry, and trigonometry is assumed. No calculus is used, and finite differential equations are substituted in place of differential equations where appropriate. Most problems and exercises can be easily solved using hand calculators; some, however, require more extensive computations using computer spreadsheets. This book is intended for courses requiring more quantitative material than is currently offered in either text by Ahrens.
