Metaverse 2525

This story takes place after humanity tipped the natural balance and nature rebelled. During the five centuries since 2025, war has made parts of the world uninhabitable, and disease has changed how people live and die. War and disease restored the balance with nature but with many fewer people. It is the end of one cycle of civilization and the beginning of the next, and the hero is chosen to begin the rebirth of civilization.

What will the world look like five hundred years from now? Suppose you lived in Shakespeare's time and endeavoured to imagine the twenty-first century. Neither you nor Shakespeare could conceive of our world, but Shakespeare understood human nature, and his social commentary is as valid now as it was then.

Anu lives in a farming village near a modern city called Dana which is under attack in the metaverse by a virtual army from Paxa, another city. Anu, a peasant, in the dangerous world has access to the metaverse. The Paxons have the power to destroy Dana in the real world if they destroy the Danian army. The destiny of the world is at stake and only Anu can stop the Paxon offensive. He reluctantly accepts the challenge in the name of love. His path to success is a true hero's journey but can not end as he thought he wanted when he is to be the one to begin rebuilding human civilization.
