Following his retirement in 2004 from full-time ministry in The Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Roy Nilsen discovered a new vocation when he found his way to the Des Moines Art Center, where he trained to become a docent and began a ministry helping children develop an appreciation for art. But the pulpit kept calling. Pastor Nilsen accepted a number of special preaching requests and then, for a time, served as a pastor at St. Mark Lutheran Church in West Des Moines, Iowa. These sermons, all preached since he headed for the pasture at age 66, have a joyous freedom to them. Personal, pastoral and prophetic, these messages proclaim God's radically incarnate grace with humor and humility, with candor and courage. This collection of post-retirement sermons celebrates Pastor Nilsen's 80th birthday.
