Many people have asked me why I chose to write about the 'stories' of the Desert Fathers. They believe they are legends and have no relevance to modern Christianity. Yet I believe these stories, legend or not, tell of something much deeper than mere historical facts; they tell God's eternal truth. In the light of God's truth, historical facts are simply details.So with each Desert Father I will present the historical facts as they are known and then I will give you a lesson from each. These lessons are what I would call historical fiction since there is no way of knowing if the legends the lessons are based on are true or not. So to each legend, I added a little color through my interpretation of each lesson of the Desert Fathers.I truly hope you enjoy, but most of all, learn the lesson!
