Just happened upon this book in a book store and fell in love with its premise and strong main character. The viewpoint of the daughter to me was not as effective, but at times memorable. For example she writes that she can always tell what her mother is thinking, and if she'd only speak up, then at least she could argue with her. I highly recommended the book for its intruiguing approach to unraveling a woman's dilemna. Dana Bagshaw
The Lies that Bind a Family
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 18 years ago
An excellent novel. The premise of the book is a mistaken belief that a family member died and the ramifications for the family. The interchanging points of view from the supposedly decesased mother and her daughter highlight many other lies that have governed the conduct of this family. The discovery and the shedding of the lies lead to a renewed family strength while the plot makes the book a page turner. A very enjoyable and enlightening read.
