Memories of a Girl from Birkenhead

We all have have Memories: Some good, some bad, some happy some sad. Some we'd rather forget about. In this fascinating Memoir, I bear a life of hardship and setbacks, and becoming a young 16 year old wife and mother. The poverty and difficult circumstances abound. Birkenhead, a part of Merseyside, In the North West of England, which includes Liverpool (where The Beatles hail from) is separated from it's bigger City, Liverpool, by The River Mersey, once a thriving hub of ferries and boats. There were SIX of us Walsh children with me being the eldest. While I'me sure there would have been children who had it far tougher than we did - in other ways - our childhood was one of poverty, misery and a lack of ANY sort of parenting. My earliest memory is from aged four years old, and I take you on my life's journey, right up until I am twenty one, and about to Emigrate to Australia, in the hope of a better life. But the road there is VERY rocky. I make many 'confessions' in this book, some of which nobody else, not even my ex-husband, knows of. I am ashamed? Yes, of course, but the 60's were very different times and we did what we had to do to survive, be it right or wrong. I think you'll find this Memoir to be entertaining, and it will give you some idea into what life was like for us really poor children and teenagers back then., and ralise just what today's generation take for granted Enjoy
