Dr. Benita Yap is a 90-year old mother, historian, educator, and storyteller. In 1945, her husband, Catalino, opened the doors to St. Anthony Institute (now called St. Anthony College of Technology SACT]), in Mabalacat. In 1947, Catalino married Benita and together in 1966 co-founded Dau Academy (now St. Mutien College). In 1993, Benita became President when Catalino passed and by 1995, Antonio (eldest son of Benita and Catalino) took the helm as President and founded SACT Graduate School along with other schools resulting into the St. Anthony School System, located in one of the largest provinces in the Philippines called Pampanga. With more than 65 years in academia, Benita continues to grace her students, faculty, family, friends, and colleagues with her continuous sense curiosity and wonder through the pursuit of lifelong learning.
