My memoirs are about my life as an Empath and the struggles of dealing with the intense emotions of day to day living. For those that don't know, an Empath is a person that has the gift/curse of feeling everything another is feeling and all the stuff going on all the time with everything. The gift part is when the surroundings are positive; we can bask in that greatness. The curse is when the surroundings are not positive, we are consumed by those heavy emotions and they can drown us in a breaking dam of darkness. There are also people like us but, on the other spectrum. I call them baddies. They can be energy vampires or narcissists; there are even regular people that if they are carrying low emotions such as anger, hurt, paranoia, gloom and doom. Empaths can take these emotions as their own. It can be very hard to discern if these emotions we feel, are our own or if we are taking on someone else's, one or many. The empath usually goes through life not knowing who she is, until she meets a narcissist or another such baddie completely attacks her well-being or her psyche. I did not realize I was blessed with this curse, until I was nearly 50 years old. This is also when I learned about the abuse and trauma caused by Narcissists. Growing up, I never had the opportunity to learn self-esteem. I always needed to seek approval from others. I never knew my desires, needs or wants. I only knew to serve others.
