My life has been full of adventures. Growing up in Northwest Florida among its springs, rivers, and lakes, I mastered SCUBA diving under the guidance of a master diver and served on a SCUBA rescue team. I learned and taught cave diving, camped and hiked throughout the South, and even tackled parachuting with a friend using army surplus parachutes. I explored the many caves in the limestone of the Ocala Limestone Shelf.
I served in the Naval Reserve aboard a destroyer as a hospital corpsman, later serving aboard an aircraft carrier and with the Marine Corps as a medical evacuation helicopter aircrewman. I completed 300 combat missions and earned 15 Air Medals. I spent three years in Germany on a major military staff, skied in some of the most stunning locations in the Alps, and upon returning to the U.S., worked on major staffs in the Department of Defense and Navy.
After 31 years of service, I retired from the Navy and carried my adventurous spirit into retirement, becoming an emergency manager and embracing my passion for boating.
