This study focuses on entrepreneurial dynasties and their identity. In entrepreneurial families, a common self-image among the members cannot be taken for granted, especially from the fourth generation onward. In a qualitative study design, Leonie Fittko examines eight entrepreneurial families to see how they faced transformations in the interplay of family and business in the course of generations that threatened their shared identity as an entrepreneurial family. Strategies and measures are identified that can contribute to the maintenance of a shared identity and a model of identity maintenance is developed.
