Good, but not great

I enjoyed this book, I thought the plot was fantastic and well-done, and it was just a good story. However, I had a lot of trouble relating to the characters and the way the book was written kind of put me off. As high school teenagers, the characters didn't seem realistic to me. They used words and phrases I would expect 30 or 40-year-olds to use. Also, everything was too didactic. In a book dealing with the issues of abuse, I expected a lot of things to be more subtle, especially the emotions of the characters, but they tell you exactly what they're feeling and kind of analyze themselves along with that. I like it when there's mystery to characters' motives and actions and there wasn't any mystery with these ones. All in all, it was a good read, but it just wasn't fantastic.

Highly recommended to young adult fiction readers everywhere

'Mind your own business' is a saying commonly said to stay out of trouble. But is it always worth it? "Meeting Lizzy" is the story of Cy McEntire, a seventeen year old who is no stranger to family problems. He followed the aforementioned wisdom, but it soon became too much as he was positive that a neighbor girl was being abused. What could he really do about it? A story of how one person can make a difference, "Meeting Lizzy" is highly recommended to young adult fiction readers everywhere.

A Great Read! Gets you on the first page!

I absolutely loved this book. It captured me from the very first page. I got to know the characters right away and really liked them all. Well, almost all of them. You get mad at some of the characters and frustrated with others. Sometimes I wanted to get in there and tell them "good for you"! It's easy to read and the story keeps you interested all the way through. I didn't want to put it down. Anyway, I hope there are sequels because I really wanted this book to keep on going . . . . Give it a try! I'm definitely going to tell my friends about this one.
