When Sarah interviewed for a job she really needed, her interviewer told her plainly that she wouldn't get the job although her qualifications were excellent. When she questioned what he meant, he told her that he preferred someone at least 40, plain and sensible. Angry, she asked why when the ad had asked for age and qualifications, and she had stated her age as 25! Alastair's answer that he was an eligible bachelor and had been turned off by young girls throwing themselves at his head infuriated Sarah and she stormed out. Alastair ran after her and after a lengthy chase found her and apologized. From there, the typical on and off romance, with pride, especially on Sarah's part, causing differences that eventually separated them. The story does have the usual romantic ending. A good read, but I like other Essie Summers stories better.
