Medicinal Plants of Mindanao State University-Maguindanao

The term'' medicinal plant' 'include various type of plants use in herbalism (''herbology''or' 'herbal medicine''). This study was conducted at the vicinity of Mindanao State University-Maguindanao Campus. It is limited on the identification, classification, ecological and conservation status in the study site according to their taxonomic name as family, genera of species based on the morphological characters and description.The result showed that there were sixteen (16) endemic families of trees, twelve (12) families for exotic and one (1) family of tree is threatened. Under herbs classification there were nineteen (19) endemic families of herbs, thirteen (13) families for exotic and one (1) family of herbs is extinct and threatened. Under vines classification there were ten (10) endemic families for vines and two (2) families are exotic. Under palm classification there were two (2) families of palms are endemic and exotic. For under grass classifications there were four (4) families are endemic. Shannon- weiner diversity index was signified as low. MSU- Maguindanao must havePromulgate laws to promote the protection of medicinal plants under MSU- Maguindanao Campus. Preserve and conserved the medicinal plants, and rehabilitation of the study area.Wider areas of coverage within 55 hectare Medicinal plants have a big role to the community of DalicanDatu Odin SinsuatMaguinadanao.
