Medicaid was birthed from an Amendment to the Social Securities Act on July 3oth 1965. This was signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson. Medicaid came about as part of President Johnson grand plan to illuminate poverty and racial inequalities under his reform strategy dubbed the "Great Society". A number of amendments to the Social Securities Act have made Medicaid what we know today. The program benefits at least Fifty Eight (58) million Americans.
