Saint Nicholas of Myra is often eclipsed by his legacy, the tradition of Santa Claus; but there was much more to this real man than his generous heart. He was a Greek Christian in a pagan land--the Roman province of Lycia--who used his considerable inheritance to help others. His accomplishments as a priest and later as Bishop of Myra earned him the title "Wonderworker" during his lifetime. He suffered and was imprisoned for his faith and the Christian tenets still valid today.
