I don't interpret this film as a comedy. It is a light drama, filled with joy and natural light. Christian Dior told us, "Zest is the secret of all beauty. There is no beauty that is attractive without zest." Kahlil Gibran wrote, "Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart." Imagine if Anna Magnani had lived in Brazil and exuded joy, Regina Casé provides that example. Polyandry challenges viewers but this film presents the concept in a soft, palatable fashion. Gilberto Gil contributes the music. Lima Duarte as Osias, Stênio Garcia as Zezinho, and Luis Carlos Vasconcelos as Ciro. I'll say this, a woman living with three husbands and four sons carries a heavy load. Andrucha Waddington serves as director. Breno Silveira serves superbly as the director of photography.
If you're open-minded, you could delight in this film.
