Excellent! Sorry to see the negative feedback!

Hmmm... I wonder if they read the same book I did. I found it delightful, true to life, funny, satirical, and enlightening. I am 51, so I enjoyed the younger woman outlook with the maturity of having been through some of those same situations! The fractured fairy tales interspersed really added to and interpreted the maturity that the main character, Sandra Berlin, gained as the story progressed. The story of her gay best friend was very real to me and I thought she did an excellent job of covering all the bases in dealing with the death and dying of a friend with AIDS. I listened to it on an audiotape first and then purchased a copy. It was excellent entertainment during my daily commute.

Unlikely reader gets hooked!

I just loved this book! Because I do not have a great love for reading I tend to only like cute love stories that catch me early on. I couldn't put this book down. Although I could not wait to find out how it ended, I didn't want it to be over.

I REALLY ENJOYED THIS BOOK!

I was surprised to read so many bad reviews of this novel!! I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. I laughed out loud many times, and actually felt kind of sad when the book came to an end. It reminded me just a bit of that book I read about a million years ago- "Sheila Levine is Dead and Living in New York." (Anyone remember that one?) I will certainly look for Alex Witchel's next novel.

Laugh out Loud Funny

Brought me back to my Twenties. This book is a very easy read, that will have you laughing out loud. Reminded me of my single days!!!

I didn't want to put it down

I read this book in two days, both of which I worked, if that has any indication of how much I enjoyed this book. The main character, Sandra, truly struck a chord in me of a troubled time in my life. Ms. Witchel did an amazingly accurate job of describing the emotional rollercoaster that Sandra was going through. At the same time the book kept me wanting more. When I was finished I was disappointed I had read it so fast. I recommend this book to anyone who had a break up that made them have to start life all over again.
