What a wonderful picture book this is! As a substitute teacher I find this one gives me so much material to work with. The story captures the children's attention and grips their emotions. I love discussing the beautiful images and language used in this book. I would highly recommend it for any teacher's collection.

A winner

This is a powerfully understated--and therefore all the more touching--children's book about fathers, sons, cars and so much more. My boys and I have read it again and again and it never seems saccharine or tiresome. The illustrations are wonderful too.

This is a great book for teaching writing crafts.

This is a wonderful story that is very appealing to students. I sincerely hope it can be reprinted. It is a good book to use for themes, and there are examples of various writing crafts in the text, such as voice and word choice (wonderful examples of similes and alliteration).

My four year old loves this book!

My son has loved this book since the first time we checked it out at the library when he was 3. He asked to read it over and over. If you have a son or daughter who loves cars, even at at a young age, he or she will love this book. My son memorized many parts of this book very early on.
