Me And My Tentacle Monster

By Derek Moody

Mia Harper's life is quiet, predictable, and painfully ordinary.

Then a purple tentacle monster grabs her ankle at the beach.

She names him Mochi, hides him above her aunt's bakery, and quickly discovers that her new eight-armed problem has strong opinions about snacks, stolen socks, romance movies, and Mia's love life.

Especially her love life.

When Mochi decides that Mia and her aquarium coworker Jonah clearly belong together, subtlety is not part of the plan. Flowers are stolen. Hands are forcibly introduced. Dates are interrupted. Calamari becomes a personal insult.

But Mochi is more than an adorable troublemaker.

As Mia searches for answers about where he came from, she uncovers signs that creatures like Mochi may have been captured by a private marine research company. Suddenly, protecting her strange new friend means facing scientists, reporters, corporate secrets, and the possibility that Mochi has a family somewhere in the ocean waiting to be found.

Along the way, Mia discovers that love does not always arrive the way you expect.

Sometimes it comes from a patient boyfriend.

Sometimes it comes from family.

And sometimes it has eight tentacles, steals your food, and refuses to respect personal boundaries.

Me and My Tentacle Monster is a lighthearted, family-friendly romantic comedy filled with quirky fantasy, seaside adventure, found family, and one extremely determined purple matchmaker.
