worked for me

Using this book, and a little real world experience, I nailed the MCSA exam, and (barely) passed the MCSE exam. However, a considerable amount of information on 70-296 seemed completely new to me after closely reading this book. I'd recommend a little extra preparation for it--either practice tests or another book. One or two questions, and I would have gone the other way.

Not Another Anonymous Spoiler Review

There is actually nothing wrong with this book and studied enough in depth it will get you through the exams. IT IS NOT GARBAGE THE PREVIOUS REVIEW OR IS IT REVIEWER IS! What other books did this nit picking master of 2003 read because at this time (Feb 2004) there are precious few which actually come up to the mark of this book - check the reviews for yourself - in fact there are so few especially for 70-296 one wonders where like the Easter Bunnie he/she/it conjured them up from. Buy it read it and pass, but of course always try to find additional study material......even if it is out of the magicians hat!!!!

Bone up for this exam, 'cause it ain't easy...

Yes, you should get this book. But man, the exam was hard (for me.) I would also recommend lots of brain dumps and some experience. The exam covers a wide range of topics, and it had been a while since i got my first cert, so I was a bit rusty. The authors of this book provided a good structure, good overview, and hit on basically every topic. Sometimes I needed to research a bit more to fully understand everything I wanted to know, but it would take 2000 pages to cover everything. Minazi's book is good for that, but don't use it for MCSE or MCSA

Good book, hard exam...better bone up

The exam was harder than I thought, and I'm glad I used this book. It covered most of what I saw, though there were a few things that I think I got just from my experience (two years network admin.) Overall, I think the book does a very good job. I've used Sybex a bunch, and like them.

Covers everything

This books covers both the 70-292 and the 70-296 exams, which is great considering that the two exams share a lot of common topics. You NEED to know Windows 2000 fairly well before reading this book, since most of the information relates to the updates and new additions in Server 2003. I read the entire book before taking either exam, which the author actually recommends, and I passed both easily. The only complaint I would have is that the book is softbound, but the material contained in this book is great and will get you through the exams without any problems.
