My name is Elijah and I was almost killed 3-times!
I was a 17-year-old high schooler in 1962 that may have been involved in a blackmail scheme with an adulterous woman. But not the murders. The 10 deaths, and the bombings, it wasn't me. The Klansman Sheriff, and his Klansman, [real life] brother, maybe, but not me. Yes, Odessa was shot 27-times and killed, but that wasn't me either. The second time they tried to kill me happened because I was dating the Sheriff's niece. Maybe, Jim Crow pulled the trigger of the shotgun they used on me, but for sure it wasn't me trying to kill myself. The third and final attempt to kill me was the KKK! They didn't succeed, but they did forever change the life of the woman I loved and me. Thankfully, the NAACP, FBI, and a Brooklyn, New York lawyer outsmarted an Uncle Tom and the Mule Town racists. My childhood hometown, Columbia, Tennessee, aka Mule Town, hasn't been the same since!
