He helps many families along the way, but after he helps them, he's always returned to the shelters. Max doesn't mind, because he remembers the little boy whom he was too young to help all those years ago when he was just a pup. He starts to feel hope again when he's fostered by a young lady who has been taking care of him and brings him home and decides to adopt him. Max even gets to walk past the house he was in with the little boy when Max was a puppy.
