Maturing with Mimi: Life Lessons in Financial Literacy

This fictional story is loosely based on the life of the first-time author, Tara Jones. This story aims to teach and invoke discussion around financial literacy through the use of storytelling. The story follows Amiya "Mimi" Jones along her journey towards financial literacy as she progresses through life, from the perspective of a young woman of color growing up in a military environment. Each chapter discusses significant events that Mimi experiences during each year of high school.

The story is designed to be an illustrated three-book series, discussing Mimi's life experiences as a young teenager, through her college years, then post-college life. This series provides parents with initial tools to set the foundation of financial literacy; introducing simple concepts as it relates to typical daily activities a child may experience. The questions at the end of each chapter enable parents to discuss small acts of financial decision-making in real-world scenarios; and further encourages the whole family to remain actively money-minded.
