Mattie's Legacy

While the Civil War rages all around her, twelve year old Mattie is in a war of her own for survival on the docks of New Orleans. But when the unthinkable happens and she has nothing left to lose she makes a daring escape that will take her deep into the heart of a war-torn country, where she meets with life changing events and people that will provide the foundation of the woman she becomes and her legacy. What Readers Are Saying Warning... when starting this book make sure you don't have anywhere you need to be or anything you need to do because you won't want to stop reading until you've finished it all Trust me on this It is such a wonderful novel, and I love how Iola Reneau writes... it all felt so believable and authentic, intimate, like a close friend was telling me this really amazing, beautiful, emotional story that I didn't want to stop listening to. Loved the message throughout, and how Mattie is able to connect with faith even when tested (over and over). Liked many of the secondary characters as well, and this is a great character-driven novel that I can see fans of Christian fiction eagerly gobbling down. Suitable for all ages. (5 stars) Laura Clarke-Goodreads; Shelfari Moving, uplifting, well-written and transformative, "Mattie's Legacy" by Iola Reneau is an absolute 'must read' for anyone regardless of where you are on your spiritual and life journey. It will restore your faith and remind you that through the Lord anything is possible, even when things seem their darkest I enjoyed the historical backdrop as well and felt I was transported back in time to this pivotal period in our country's history. The conversations were fast-paced, and the narrative was focused and easy to follow. Mattie is an inspiring character and we truly are in for a treat experiencing this life and world through her eyes. A wonderful read, a definite keeper. Sam Ryan-
