Set during the summer of 2012 on the English south coast, this light-hearted ghost story follows Carrie as she discovers a passion for internet hopping, and develops an addiction for vintage clothes. Her interest is piqued by a Victorian mourning cloak, and deciding to delve into the background of its former owner, she adds a wedding dress to her collection. However, she feels cheated when the promised photograph of the original bride is missing from the parcel, and she sets out to track down what she sees as her property.
Meanwhile, she is also agonizing over her one-sided relationship with Keith, a man with a young nephew, whom she met on the bus. But is Colin really Keith's nephew? And have her actions put him in danger?
Strange occurrences begin to unfold, including a break-in at her garage, and an occasional scent of lavender.
It seems that one of Carrie's purchases has brought with it a little unforeseen something extra that sends her off on a new obsessive tangent.
As Carrie delves deeper, she is drawn into the past, uncovering secrets and restless spirits.
Can she uncover the truth, ease her trouble conscience and lay the unsettled spirits to rest?
