Love is a dangerous game when your clients are killers...from the bestselling author behind Love Letters to a Serial Killer. When Lexie's fianc runs off with her so-called best friend on her birthday, her carefully crafted fairy-tale life shatters. Having survived horrors in her past, she was determined to finally get her happily-ever-after--and she's not giving up yet. To distract herself, Lexie throws herself into her unusual job: matchmaking psychopaths (a specialty her clients are blissfully unaware of). But the loneliness is crushing. So when a gorgeous, overprotective new client named Aidan insists they're soulmates, and another intriguing client, Rebecca, seems perfect to fill the best-friend-shaped hole in her life, Lexie can't help but find the attention comforting--despite her own professional boundaries. Then a human heart appears on Lexie's doorstep. As more threatening packages arrive and her fianc mysteriously disappears, she must confront a terrifying question: did she inadvertently match herself with a killer? Between Aidan's claims that her fianc will never return, Rebecca's growing presence in her life, and her own dark past resurfacing, Lexie's matchmaker instincts are being tested like never before. Because someone is determined to ensure her story ends with a funeral.
Totally entertaining! Yes there are a few (or maybe more?) bodies, body parts but all Lexie is looking for is finding perfect matches for her clients (who are psychopaths, but they deserve a happy ending too! lol) and landing the perfect happy ending for herself with her fiancé Noah. In between binge watching trashy reality shows with her best friend Molly, working at Better Love (with a good success rate), it seems like everything is coming up with roses. So, I must admit it was easy to like Lexie and her optimism and wish the worst on Noah when he breaks up with her (on her birthday for goodness sake!) to shack up with her best friend. She is totally adorable (maybe a bit unreliable) despite her very dark childhood and though some of her actions are questionable, I like how she kept her calm and reasoning when unexpected body parts show up on her front step, or when that twist shows up at the end (totally did not see that, but it was great)!
This is a totally wild story, lots of dark humor, trashy tv shows and romantic movies (important to Lexie as a grounding mechanism!) mysterious flowers and valentine tiny towns (complete with body parts!) and of course finding true love with the one that completes you and loves you back, even the darkest parts of you and learning to love your real self as well. lol! Wishing all the best for Lexie and her true love, and not too many bodies (unless they really deserve it!)
