Penelope (Penny) Douglas is a smart, independent Vice president at MasterSkill Windows and Doors in East St. Louis, Illinois. She begins traveling to MasterSkill circa 1917 in her sleep. There, she has a male chauvinist boss at the factory named Frederick. After a potential explosion in the factory is evaded, Penny confronts Frederick about the working conditions in the factory. Frederick is frustrated that Penny keeps meddling in his job. Penny wonders how many people must get hurt for him to open his eyes. Meanwhile, she gets stuck in 1917 and must figure out how to get back to her own time.
