The best book for beginers

If you know Html and want to learn XML, this is a book for you.It tells you in layman terms the concepts of XML without getting you bogged down.If you are a programmer (java)you can read just upto chapter 11 and then look at the java Api or go through one of the IBM tutorials and you will be all set.I agree that there is lot of repetition of the concepts but you can just skim the topic or read it again.

An excellent book for anyone who makes a living at Web Work.

If you make your living doing net programming and/or Web development, you have got to get this book. XML is definitely NOT a beginners topic, so you need a solid background in HTML. But once you have that, this book will get you the rest of the way.I was assigned a task of creating an XML based data server. Not knowing anything about XML, this was the first book I bought. The discussion on DTD's and the coverage of parsing was crucial in developing my project. And it's the only book I've purchased which covers the actual W3C standard faithfully without lots of wasted space on "opinions" or conjecture.

Good for beginner

It is really a good book for beginner. For every chapter, it will give complete explanation and examples which cannot be found in any other book. Some of the other books just concentrate on example and never give a good explanation on XML. My advice is to save your money and buy this book.

Something for everyone

After buying 6 or 7 other XML books, here's one that offers clear explanations of basic concepts, a good amount of background and history, decent code examples, and some useful case studies. I bought it just for the Dell case study, but have found the rest of the book to be clear, useful and easy to access. My new favorite. -- corourke@netwhit.com

An Excellent Book for Beginner or Expert

This is a very good book for those who are just getting into XML, need to have a good reference, or want to develop and design XML applications. This book touches every level of understanding for XML users, from beginner to expert. I had look at a couple of books on XML as a beginner and still could not grasp the concept, but this book brought it all together for me. The book starts off on a very basic level for the beginner but builds on what it teaches you through each chapter so that you get a clearer understanding as you read through. This book is also a good reference as well as a tutorial. I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting an easy to read, complete guide to building XML applications.
