Mastering Candle Magick explores one of the oldest and most widely used metaphysical methods in a revolutionary new way. It not only builds on the information presented in Patricia Telesco's earlier... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I recently purchased and read this book and as I expected, I loved it. I also realize I waited far too long to get it. In response to the below review in there only being 9 steps to candle magic, I feel that the 10th and last step she didn't specifically outline is the last paragraph; the follow-through in daily life to complete the action intended in the spell :) As with her other books, this one is well-written, accessable, down to earth and reads like you're having a friendly chat with a long-time acquaintance. Ms. Telesco is one of my favorite Craft authors and never fails to impress me with her creativity, along with the usefulness and variety of ideas, spells and practices. I really enjoy her way of the Craft and so I'm even more thrilled when she comes out with books that go beyond the 101/learning/beginning stages, like this one. She doesn't spend a lot of time on the basics, which is nice because that's usually (as it should be IMO) understood if you're picking up a more advanced book. A nice compliment to its predecessor and a useful addition to the book collection of anyone interested in the area of candle magic.
useful book

This is the first candle magick book I've read. The bulk of the book is made up of spells for nearly 70 "needs" (i.e. abudance, peace, money, etc.) I don't have a lot of experience with spell books but I really like these spells--she offers cool ideas for conducting each spell (using ice cubes, a spell to encourage humor, etc.) Also, each spell inspired me to extrapolate with my own additons. One kind of weird thing is that in the beginning of the book she lists the "10 steps for candle magick"...and then lists only 9! It seems like a strange thing to overlook when your whole book is about how to do candle magick. The "meat" (or should I say "soy") of the book, though, is excellent.
An excellent reference

I like Telesco's books b/c she's the only author I can find who is writing for the intermediate and advanced witch. Dunwich's "Exploring Spellcraft" is the only other comparable book I have. This book is basic in some ways but for anyone who's tired of the repetion of the same old "101" books, it's definitely worth exploring. The spells are divided by purpose and are a little more specific than "love" or "health."Telesco assumes that her readers already know what she's talking about and it's nice to have an author talk up to me instead of down. Thankfully, she's prolific so there's always a new book to read. Check out her other work as well.
